When "Help" arrives!
You never know when you might need help. It's usually just a phone call away. Let me try to explain so that this doesn't happen to you.
I was needing some quiet time to reflect and pray to THE LORD because I had and have been a real horses patoot. So I decided to take a drive down to the riverfront because I deemed it a peaceful place that I might pray. At first I sat in my truck looking out over the river just contiplating my actions and 'kicking myself' for my stupidity.
After a bit I bowed my head to the steering wheel to pray. Before that moment I was conscious of those around me. A gentlemen in a red truck pulled up on my right and got out and was asking another man for directions. On my left there was a couple in a silver car.
With my head now bowed I began to pray fervently. I was oblivious to anything going on around me. I prayed to THE LORD to forgive me and to the one that I hurt. I asked THE LORD to help me and guide me in my ways. I do not know how long that I prayed but after some time I could hear sirens in the distance growing nearer. I remember praying to GOD that the emergency personnel reach their destination on time. After that I resumed my praying in regards to my concerns.
The next thing I know there is a firetruck and firefighters and two police cars with officers all around my truck! What?! An officer came to my window and I rolled it down. He said that they had a call about a man that appeared non responsive in a truck at this location! Oh wow it was me! The officer took my ID and checked me out. He found nothing out of the ordinary of course. I told him that I was fine and did not need their help. He did ask me if I had been drinking or etc. I told him no that I just came here to have some quiet time and pray and that I wasn't really paying attention to anything else until I heard the sirens in the distance.
After that he said that I was free to go and they all left as quickly as they came. All was quiet once more. I took a short drive after that to clear my head and then headed home. I shared the story when I got home and we both got a laugh. I was also a little embaressed by it all. I did pray for "help" and I got it! Who knows I may have done the same for a stranger!
