Digsby--Love it!
I have found a new "toy!"
Digsby does it all! Okay. It does a lot and I am having fun playing with it.
I want to share with you a few of the things it does, but you can read more about it on their site and download it to play with it yourself to learn more.
First, Digsby is an Instant Message tool AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Google Talk, Jabber, and Facebook Chat!
Wow! I have never seen a program combine so many.
I was concerned about the file sharing feature, but did test it. In some collaborative IM programs, you cannot share files, but Digsby does share files similar to Yahoo IM which saves to the desktop. (Sorry, not like Hello) It does not drag and drop to the window to share, but using the button and browsing is still easy enough.
You can enter your e-mail address to receive notifications every time you receive an e-mail. I always liked this in Yahoo IM, but when you went to collaboration software, you lost that option. So, enter all your address to use one program to be notified (with popup, sound, other options).
You can also over over the e-mail in the lower part of the box and it brings up another box to view more information about that e-mail.
It works with Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL/AIM Mail, IMAP, and POP accounts!
Cool, huh?
That's not all!
You may add your social networking applications to Digsby!
Now I do not need a separate desktop application for Twitter! It also works with Facebook and MySpace, but since this is a new program, I am hopeful more social networking sites will be added.
As with the e-mail, just hover over the account and a popup box will show to view messages and to post or reply. The IM screen also utilizing tabbing. It blinks in the taskbar when you have a new message. You can send e-mail right from the screen, as well as other capabilities as seen in this screenshot.
Another feature I noticed right away is the small icons in the taskbar notifying me of how many new messages I have.
What are you waiting for? Go download it! After you download it, you will be taken to a thank you page with helpful information.
