Beaver Operation a/k/a Big Stick Operation
Hubby made me laugh today when he said "Now I know never to live next to a beaver." He's so silly!
Have I said how much I love my city enough on my blog? They have contracted out to clean up our city from all the ice damage. The city has been divided up into zones and they are working on one zone at a time.Timing is everything. As we were cleaning house and preparing food for a birthday party today, a bobcat showed up and began adding our neighbors piles to our pile. We teased the guy running the bobcat saying that he must have know we were having a party. He said he just picked the biggest pile on the street as that was the most logical to not move. Uggg! And here we are worried about where our party guests will park. He said that the "big truck" would arrive in a few hours (just in time for the party) to pick it all up.
Here is our new friendly neighborhood beaver dam---oh, I mean pile of rubbish from the ice storm, ready to welcome our party guests. Won't they be surprised?
Okay, well, I was surprised. I didn't expect to be deamed this reward today. Five minutes after our party guests left (much more than the two to three hours after the bobcat as was told), this big truck arrived. What an interesting thing for us to watch.
Every time the crane lifted high in the air, we could hear the young girls down the street shreak in excitement. It was SO cute.
I took photos at first, but here's a video of it working after the pile got smaller. We were just SO happy to have it gone from our yard. It feels like the first step towards getting back to normal. Now to work on getting the grass planted because all the ice killed our grass and in getting the fence repaired. I think we are also going to have to get the rest of that tree cut down.

1 WARM FUZZIES--comments SO appreciated!:
What an awesome and lovely set of photos to share. I can fully understand why you wouldn't want that monster pile in front, especially when you and yours are celebrating his 16th birthday, which is a great milestone for him and his family. Fun to view the movie in real time. I am thankful that I didn't have any problems with trees, but I had a lot of problems with water. Where is my slice of birthday cake or at least a photo? Leavin LUV! XOXOXO
