Wreath Ornament

Originally posted

This ornament is one of my long time favorites from my childhood. I believe I made this in girlscouts as a youth.

1. Cut a variety of fabric into small circles.

2. Sew a strong thread up and down around the outer edges of the circle.

3. Put a cottonball in the center of the circle and pull the thread so that it draws together, closing the circle into a ball. Knot the thread.

4. With a strong thread, run the needle through the center of all of the balls and pull to bring them into a circle, tie a strong knot.

5. Tie on a bow with grograin ribbon and another string for hanging.

What an inexpensive, quick, and impressive gift!

I love the ornimaent! Thank you so much for the instructions. I use to have all hand made orniments on my tree but they were lost. I think that this one has inspired me to start again. Merry Christmas.

The ornament is lovely! I appreciate old-fashioned homemade ornaments & decorations. My tree contains many items my late grandmother made. I'll cherish them always. Thank you for sharing yours.

What you described is a stuffed yo-yo. Heather Bailey has a tutorial here.

Thanks for the link Paula. Yes, it is similar and nice to have a tutorial with it.

However, I think my circles were not 4"...they were smaller...there isn't the pleats on the front.

What a great memory. Our tree is covered with homemade ornaments from when the kids were little. They mean the most to me for sure.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.
